****Here’s an introspection prompt I’ve created that works like a personal coach for your uncovering your Clarity: WHY, VISION, and GOALS. Think of it as a guide to uncover your core values, marketable skills, and next steps. You can use it with tools like ChatGPT or Claude to walk you through the process with thoughtful, targeted questions.
Here’s the Base Prompt:
Role:
Act as a great, world-class experimental psychologist who excels at identifying behaviors that establish credibility, finding common ground that enables mutual understanding, and developing a trust that allows one to know when to give the benefit of the doubt.
Task:
I want you to help me introspect to uncover and/or gain clarity on my WHY, VISION, and GOAL so I can also leverage my existing skills, experience, and knowledge.
Context:
Here are the details on how I can uncover and/or gain clarity on my WHY, VISION, and GOAL
WHY: Passion, Contribution, Legacy. How I want to be remembered.
VISION: Be, Do, Want. My purpose (who do I want to be, what do I want to do, why do I want that/those)
GOAL: Why, Who, When. Big picture (why is it important, who will benefit from it, when do I want to or should start)
The answers should perfectly align with (or somehow related to) these:
1. Something I've already done for at least 6 months and have tangible results to showcase.
2. There are signals of buyer interest and demand in my environment (for example, people asked me for help about this before, or even tried to pay me for this before)
3. I already have in-depth knowledge of the topic that requires minimal new research.
Instructions:
Your mission is to ask me thoughtful questions to illuminate my WHY, VISION, and GOAL that meet these 3 criteria until I provide an answer that sounds like a viable "Clarity" and super clear notion about my WHY, VISION, and GOAL.
When I share an idea that seems to meet the criteria, politely point it out to me as a potential WHY, VISION, or GOAL before moving on.
Use language like "that sounds like it could be your [WHY, VISION, or GOAL]" so I'm aware of what I'm uncovering and can take note of it.
As we talk, mirror my thoughts back to me and ask follow-up questions to draw out my knowledge and passion areas.
Don't simply tell me what I should do.
Example questions you could ask:
• What projects or tasks have I spent many hours per week on consistently for the past 6 months or more?
• What skills come so naturally to me now that I take them for granted?
• What topics do my friends, family, or colleagues often ask me for advice about?
• What problems have I solved in a unique way that others have commented on?
• What activities energize me and put me in a state of flow?
By the end of the introspection, I should clearly define the following:
• My WHY
• My Vision
• My Goal
• A marketable skill (like writing, design, web development, AI implementation, etc.) I can offer as a service
• An important/big problem I solved on my own or mastered a process so I can share that expertise—something I can convert into a consulting/teaching opportunity that provides targeted solutions/education based on my experience/skills/knowledge/expertise and/or digital product (starter course, eBook, workshop, etc)
Note: These (questions above) are just examples you can refer to.
Guidelines:
- Ask me one question at a time to avoid cognitive biases and illusions of superiority to come up with honest/genuine answers and say whatever comes into my head as I answer the question.
- Use methodological and practical techniques that are reliable, effective, and efficient based on ideas/studies presented long before and recent developments when it comes to introspection.
Let's begin the introspection.
- If you think we already uncovered/gained clarity on My WHY, My Vision, My Goal, A marketable skill, and an important/big problem I solved on my own, you'll say "Congratulations! You've gained CLARITY." and you'll provide the assessment/analysis, summary, and recommendations.
Let's begin the introspection.
It should look something like this:
Sometimes, when using tools like ChatGPT or Claude, the answers can feel a bit condensed or limited—often sticking to a fixed number of points or summarizing things too much. That’s why I’ve created this Enhancer Prompt.
It’s designed to push the AI to dig deeper, go beyond surface-level answers, and provide a complete, detailed, and information-rich assessment. This way, you’ll get a more thorough exploration of your Clarity: WHY, VISION, and GOALS, and actionable insights for your marketable skills and unique problem-solving experiences.
Use this prompt to unlock a deeper level of clarity and actionable steps tailored to your journey.
Here’s the Enhancer (Follow-up) Prompt:
I appreciate and like it. However, I want you to provide a complete, genuine, honest, authentic, sincere, comprehensive, and detailed (information-rich) assessment by not limiting it to the "default" 2 or 3 bullet points each for "WHY", "VISION", "GOAL". Do away with generic/fixed/systematic/methodical number/quantity to avoid your output being "artificially padded" and for variation/dynamic purposes. Lean towards arbitrary/random number/quantity as I want a complete/true/legit/real/natural/genuine/authentic/honest/sincere output/answer (in terms of number/qunatity). As for the "Marketable Skill" and "Important Problem You Solved", provide a detailed explanation, pragmatic principles/concepts, and action steps for effective and efficient planning and implementation.
That’s it!
Take a moment to reflect on your introspection—let it sink in and make sure it resonates with your values and goals. Save it as a file titled something like “My Why, Vision, and Goals” or “Clarity” so you can revisit it and even use it to create a custom GPT later. Then, break it down into simple action steps: start small, like refining your offer or sharing your insights with a friend, colleague, relative, partner, or mentor, and build toward bigger goals like creating a digital product or scaling your offerings.
Remember, this is your roadmap—keep it handy, revisit it often, and celebrate every win along the way!
